Shooting Affair (August 9th, 1865)

Summary: On August 1 (1865) a quarrel took place between returned Union soldier G. Milton Trayer, Co. I, 13th MD, and former Confederate soldier Jno. Cook Mobberly, both of New Market, which resulted in the shooting of the former by the latter. Mobberly was arrested and released on $500 bail.

Sanitary Commission to assist soldiers, widows and others in filing claims for pensions, etc. His service is free of charge. Summary: Private John Ward of 2nd U. S. Cavalry escaped Frederick jail and is nowhere to be found. He was accused of robbing a Mr. Six. Ward was sent to jail by Capt. Naill, Provost Marshal, and escaped while Police Officer S. Haller was putting another offender in jail.
