Summary: The proprietors of the Baltimore American are hoping to raise enough money to provide Maryland soldiers in the field with Christmas dinner. Since Frederick County has many of her sons in the army, its citizens are encouraged to donate to the fund. All contributions sent by mail to the American office will be acknowledged in the columns of the paper.

Summary: About 400 horses wounded in battle were driven through Middletown on the way to Giesboro near Washington, D.C. They are part of the worn-out stock from Gen. Sheridan's campaign which are constantly arriving. Nearly 400 horses have died in the corral at Giesboro in the past month.
