Pocket Picked

Summary

The wife of Major Parker, 5th CT Regt., was robbed of fifty dollars on a railway car between Frederick and Monocacy Junction.

Transcript

POCKET PICKED – Mrs. Packer, wife of Major Packer commanding the 5th Connecticut regiment, had her pocket picked of fifty odd dollars, on last Thursday morning, in the railroad cars, between this Station and the Monocacy Junction, on her way home. Hitherto it has been a subject of congratulation among our citizens, that we were exempt from that pest of the large cities – pick pockets; but this incident shows the necessity of caution and vigilance, and we trust and believe that, if any of this light fingered crew should be detected in this vicinity, they will not escape as easily as they are permitted to do elsewhere.
