Johnson is in charge of the forces overseeing Union prisons at Salisbury, NC. Ex-Gov. Lowe is a colonel in a militia regiment. George K. Shellman is captain of a provost guard at Goldsboro, NC. Long saw and talked to all of them.

Summary: Three Federal soldiers were tried for the murder of young Edward Gladfelter of York Co., PA. The murder occurred near Leitersburg. Abraham Coon and Lindsey Forney were convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to be hung. John Riley was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 18 years in the penitentiary. Gladfelter was on his way home and leading several horses on the highway when he was overtaken and arrested as a horse thief, then shot dead. His body was left on the road.

Rigby's Battery has been combined with Snow's Maryland Battery with the result that the commissioned and non-commissioned officers of Rigby's unit are discharged.

A large number of citizens who had subscribed to the bounty fund have neglected to meet their commitment, and it is urged that they do so promptly so that the debt of the Committee can be retired.

Summary: Notice: Enough volunteers have been put in to relieve the Frederick District from the present draft. Some people who promised to make contributions have failed to do that and are reminded to do so at once. The Committee thanks Capt. H. Clay Nail, John J. Thomas and Dr. Charles J. Baer, the Board of Enrollment and the employees of the Provost Marshal's office for their help "in furthering the accomplishment of so desirable an object." Mr. Englebrecht, Treasurer of the Club Association, is prepared to pay dividends of $50 to members. Members of the Club and subscribers to the Bounty fund are requested to meet at the Court House where a full statement of the affairs of the Club will be made.
