Bell and Everett supporters held a meeting in Frederick to organize the "Minute men for the Campaign of 1860," chose J.W.L.Carty as President along with other named officers.

A large and enthusiastic meeting of the friends of Bell and Everett was held at Union Hall, on the evening of the 4th inst., when the organization of the “Minute men for the Campaign of 1860” was completed, by the adoption of a Constitution and election of the following officers: - President, J. W. L. Carty; Vice President, Thomas Gorsuch, Thomas E. Pope; Secretary, Lewis A. Brengle, jr.; Assistant Sec., James Murdock; Corresponding Secretary, Major U. ___; Treasurer, Lewis H. Dill. Speeches were made by M. M. Cooper, John A. Lynch and J. K. Wonton, Esq., and an ardent ____ in the good cause was evinced. Over one hundred joined the _____.
