The Libel Suit
Summary
A trial in Circuit Court of Washington County of Messrs. Baughman and Norris, publishers of the Republican Citizen. The defense relied upon the two-fold plea of "not guilty" and justification. The plaintiff's testimony thus far contradicts what the defense has presented. It appears that the jury is left to decide on the amount of the damages, whether large or small, but no verdict has been reached.
