MANUMISSIONS. – By act of the late General Assembly, the law regulating the manumissions of slaves in this State, has been repealed, and the manumission of salves, after the 1st day of June next, prohibited. The fact is announced, for the benefit of whom it may concern, and in order to apprise our fellow-citizens, that on and after the date specified there will be no more slave manumission in this State, the entire policy of the State, in this respect, having been changed for weal or woe, and certainly for [partisan?] purposes, when the ____ democracy obtained a temporary ascendency through the instrumentality of John Brown’s raid.
