Fatal Occurrence
Summary
A military band from Sandy Hook was out serenading in various towns. First they visited the home of Emory Edwards, Esq. near Brownsville. Then moved on to serenade elsewhere. Major Anderson of the 20th PA Cavalry was killed in Burkittsville after his horse slipped and fell throwing him violently to the ground. He died of a broken neck. [from Hagerstown Mail]
