More Appropriations
Summary
As predicted with the passage of the new state constitution, the people of Baltimore city and the western counties are now seeing what the state legislature will do with the power it wields in the hands of Democrats. It has made appropriations for schools in St. Mary's and Howard counties while schools in Washington County are closed for want of funds. Democratic senators and Democrats in the House of Delegates are voting away the money paid into the State Treasury by the people of the western counties. The paper says this is what the Democrats of Washington County get for voting away their rights into the hands of the lower or slave-holding counties of the state.
