Union Meeting

Summary

Proceedings and results of a meeting of the friends of the Constitution and Union who gathered in Middletown to form a Union Club. Stephen R. Bowlus was elected president. Those assembled said that the candidacy of Bell and Everett best represented their views because the other 3 major candidates were "sectional" ones. "The Union, the Constitution and Enforcement of the Laws" is the platform which the group supports and they heartily endorse Bell and Everett, the choice of the National Union Convention held in Baltimore in May.
