Summary

Dr. Breed, a Democrat and a former Examiner in the Patent Office, was arrested in Washington for incendiary language and held for $2,000 bail. He had advocated that Negroes ought to murder their masters, set fire to their houses, etc. He thought it was the duty of every Christian to encourage such behavior.
