Mad Brown's Plot
Summary
A Richmond newspaper claims that the Secretary of War, Mr. Floyd, had been forewarned of the John Brown raid and it could have been avoided if the Secretary had acted. However, it was allowed to take place and 17 white men and 5 Negroes seized the U. S. Armory at Harper's Ferry. Armies from Virginia and Maryland as well as the U.S. Army were called upon.
