Movements of Troops
Summary
On Monday a battery consisting of 6 rifled field pieces with caissons and magazines and about 100 horses arrived from western New York. The battery was moved to the Barracks field where they pitched their Sibley tents and found shelter for the horses. A "splendid" troop of horse under Capt. Patterson arrived from Pittsburg. It had a light steel rifled swivel which was mounted on a powerful horse and was reputed to be a very effective weapon. This troop departed on a special train.
