Zouaves D'Afrique

Summary

The Zouaves D'Afrique, an independent company not attached to any regiment and formed in Philadelphia, are headquartered at Union Hall in Frederick and attracting much interest among people. The men drill with precision and their costumes are "singular." They are assigned as part of Maj. Gen. Banks' body guard. The costumes are described. The men are equipped with Enfield rifles and saber bayonets. The commander of the Zouaves is Capt. Charles H. T. Collis.
