Liberty Pole

Summary

Lewis H. Dill, a patriotic citizen of Frederick City, erected a Liberty Pole at his home and a national flag was made by some ladies. When it became known that the pole was to be erected, the American Band volunteered to perform, speeches were made and a large and enthusiastic crowd assembled. The band performed "Hail, Columbia," the "Star-Spangled Banner," "Yankee Doodle" and Col. W. P. Maulsby spoke from Dill's porch.
