A Nuisance
Summary
Editorial calling for local police to attend to “the bold effrontery and indecent utterances of the negro wenches, who infest our streets after dusk.” With the approach of nice weather, respectable females like to walk alone, unattended. The mayor is urged to make "an example of the first of these prowling offenders against ears-polite" and this will help eliminate a public nuisance.
