Summary
Gunfire across Potomac River at Dam No. 4 on Friday between Capt. Karnes' Union soldiers "on this side and a band of rebel troops on the other." Assumed the Rebels wanted to cross to "procure salt from the ware-houses along the line of the Canal..." but were repulsed. One Federal soldier was severely wounded
