Heard at a Great Distance

Summary

"On Wednesday last a rebel Regt., stationed at Shepherdstown, opened fire with cannon on the company of Federal troop on this side of the river, and was responded to by Sowders' two-gun battery." Lasted several hours, could be heard 40 miles away and "as far North as Loudon, Pa." Nobody hurt. Waste of ammunition.
