Seizure and Return of Arms
Summary
"On Monday morning, Capt. Waltemyer with about 40 members of Co. B, 1st Maryland Regiment" came to Boonsboro to seize "the arms held by the members of the disbanded Boonsboro' Guards, and conveying them to Williamsport." Some already turned over to Capt. Brining, Capt. Davis, and Lt. O'Neal of the Home Guards, "and a committee was out gathering in the others when Capt. W. and men arrived." Weapons given "to Capt. Davis for the use of the Home Guards." Eleven guns taken to Williamsport claimed as "secession prizes" but later returned to the Home Guards. From Boonsboro' Odd Fellow.
