District No. 8
Summary
At the Sept. 14 (1861) District No. 8 “Friends of the Union, the Constitution, and the Enforcement of the Laws” meeting held in Rohrersville, ten delegates were selected to represent the district in the Sept. 21 County Convention to be held in Hagerstown. Chairman of the meeting was Jonathan Tobey, the secretary was Samuel Rourer and an address was given by Nathan D. Tobey. On Oct. 5 a meeting will be held to nominate candidates for district offices.
