Summary
Rev. Dr. D.J. Lee, of St. Thomas’ Church in Hancock, MD, was detained in Virginia recently after a visit to Winchester. Dr. Lee’s Bishop, whose office is in Richmond, supports secession, whereas Lee is a Unionist. Upon his detention, Lee prevailed upon the bishop for his release, but the bishop accused him of stating “falsehoods.” Militia Gen. Carson at Winchester allowed Dr. Lee to return to Hancock upon signing a parole attesting to his neutrality.
