Summary
About forty-five to fifty U.S. troops commanded by Lt. Jones passed through Hagerstown last Friday. They had been stationed at Harpers Ferry to guard the armory, but disabled the machinery and set the buildings on fire when they learned that secessionists were approaching to seize it.
