Maryland and the Administration
Summary
The Union men of Maryland supported the administration during the war and the state has emerged from the conflict “solvent and prosperous,” while other states are “bankrupted and devastated.” Political conflicts remain with those who “appealed to the sword and were vanquished by the sword.” Although President Lincoln has fallen, his successor is a strong Union man whom Marylanders will support.
