Notice: John Dowden, negro, about 23 years of age, committed to Frederick Jail. Says he is free and came from Baltimore. Description and clothing worn when committed. Owner, if any, is requested to come and release him; otherwise he will be discharged according to law.

NOTICE.
WAS committed to the Jail of Frederick County, on the 19th of July 1861, a Negro Man, who calls himself JOHN DOWDEN; says he is free and came from Baltimore. He is about 23 years of age, 5 feet, 9 ½ inches high, with nail of the large finger of the left hand injured. He had on when committed, a calico shirt, brown coat, dark pants – the clothing much worn – and a __ cap. The owner, if any, is requested to come and have him released; he will otherwise be discharged according to the law. M. H. HALLER, Sherriff. Aug 31
